Cycling Marathon to Challenge Riders Nearly 600 Miles in 6 Days
SAN ANTONIO, TX, November 5, 2014 – In honor of Veteran’s Day, Wish for Our Heroes is pleased to announce the 4th annual RIDE TEXAS, which has become a 6-day, 586-mile cycling endurance event, that raises funds for Texas members of the United States Armed Forces.
The ride will begin November 5th in Wichita Falls, and will have stops in Fort Worth, Waco, Austin, San Antonio, Beeville, and will conclude on Veteran’s Day (Nov. 11) in Corpus Christi at Brewster St. Ice House in Corpus Christi (ETA 4-4:30pm). A total of 24 riders will cycle an average of 7 hours per day as a team, at a rate of 15-20 mph for more nearly 600 miles. The team will consist of veterans, combat-wounded heroes, and everyday citizens who want to give back to our troops.
“It is an honor to watch this exciting event grow each year, and we hope to see lots of new faces on the streets supporting our riders across the great state of Texas,” explained event founder, Kenneth Holder.

- November 5: Wichita Falls to Fort Worth- Breakfast 6:15am at American Legion Post 202 (1101 Scott St, Wichita Falls); Dinner ETA 7-7:30pm at Spring Creek Barbecue (6701 Lake Worth Blvd, Ft. Worth)
- November 6: Fort Worth to Waco – departure 7:30am from the La Quinta hotel (5800 Quebec St., Ft. Worth); Dinner 7-7:30pm Salty Dog (2004 N Valley Mills Dr, Waco)
- November 7: Waco to Austin from the Comfort Suites (2700 State Loop 491, Waco)
- November 8: Austin to San Antonio – 8am from the steps of the Capitol Building (facing Congress St); Lunch 12:30-1pm Warm Springs Rehabilitation Center (1445 Hanz Drive New Braunfels); Dinner 5-5:30pm at Rebecca Creek Distillery (26605 Bulverde Rd San Antonio, TX 78260)
- November 9: Media Day/Rest – no events scheduled
- November 10: San Antonio to Beeville: 6:30am at Whataburger- (503 SW Military Dr, San Antonio)
- November 11: Beeville to Corpus Christi- 7:30am at Best Western (US 59, Beeville)
- Conclusion: 4-4:30pm at Brewster St Ice House (1724 N Tancahua St, Corpus Christi)
