In March 2016 a request came across our desk for Staff Sergeant (SSG) Brigham, a soldier in the process of transitioning out of the military due to a medical discharge. He is assigned to the Fort Carson (Colorado) Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) and currently lives in Salt Lake City. SSG Brigham had spinal surgery and will be in a hard back brace, unable to do any physical therapy, for 6 months.
His wish request was for a medical, electric recliner to help with mobility and rehab, especially throughout his time in the back brace. Since Tricare would not cover the chair, Wish for Our Heroes was able to step in and fulfill the request. We were able to purchase the recliner and have it delivered before SSG Brigham got home from surgery.
