Friends, Fans, and Heroes,
Happy New Year! This is going to be an unbelievable year for WISH for OUR HEROES, which means we’re going to grant a ton of wishes for our troops. We are so excited for the opportunities that lay ahead in 2012, and also grateful for the accomplishments that have been made since we launched in November 2009.
As we continue to grant more and more wishes, the volume of wishes we receive is escalating at a rapid pace. In order to keep up with the demand for wishes, it’s critical for us to raise funds to enable us to grant all of these deserving wishes. We have a ton of fundraisers in store, and this newsletter highlights the ones that are fast approaching. Whether you are in the military, or you simply want to contribute to support a military member, there are plenty of ways you can get involved. We have opportunities for our fans to attend sporting events at discounted prices, while raising money for the troops, and we’re even raffling off a 1998 Corvette Indianapolis 500 Pace Car!
One of the things we are most excited about this spring, is a golf tournament that will take place on April 26th in Killeen, Texas. This will be the first time W4OH has done a stand-alone, full-scale event, and we are thrilled to have Old Chicago as our sponsor www.oldchicago.com . Killeen is an ideal location, due to its proximity to Fort Hood (the largest military base in the U.S.) and it’s a central location within Texas.
As you know, we are all volunteers at WISH for OUR HEROES, and it takes an incredible amount of dedication and hard work to coordinate the amount of wishes we receive, and still raise the funds that allow us to grant so many wishes. 2011 was a transitional year because we lost a few vital corporate sponsors (due to the economy) and we have relied on donations from our loyal fans, as well as proceeds from fundraisers throughout the year. Although there are periods of time when we worry about how we can financially help the next family, we have an incredible team that believes in what we are doing, and somehow, we always get the job done. We are very excited about the new volunteers that have come on board in the 4th quarter of 2011, particularly those in Indianapolis and San Antonio. With so many great minds and ambitious goals, the things we can accomplish are truly limitless.
