ST. PETERSBURG, FL, March 6, 2014 – Tampa Bay area race fans will have the opportunity to participate in a race of their own during the 2014 Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Event organizers announced today a new partnership with Wish for Our Heroes and Modern Business Associates (MBA) for its annual 5K run.
The Wish for Our Heroes 5K Presented by Modern Business Associates will take place on Friday, March 28 at 6:30 p.m., providing participants with the unique opportunity to discover the iconic Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg street course. Proceeds will benefit Wish for Our Heroes, a national charity that supports the men and women of the United States active-duty military facing difficulty.
“Our annual 5K run has been a great part of the weekend festivities for the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg,” said Tim Ramsberger, President of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. “We are happy to be partnering with Wish for Our Heroes and MBA for this fundraiser. I encourage everyone to sign up and participate, it's a great opportunity to discover the race track in different way, while at the same time honoring the men and women of the military.”

Participants will begin the run South of Bayshore Drive until they reach the Firestone Grand Prix race track at Turn 9. From there, runners will turn right do a lap around the track, in reverse track direction, exiting at Turn 9 to continue on Bayshore Drive toward the finish line at The Vinoy Park Hotel, where award ceremonies will take place. After the 5K, runners will be invited to a post-race concert at Jannus Live.
