“Salute to our Military “Past and Present” 2016 Veterans Day Events

The Veterans Weekend events at Burnt Store Marina benefiting the Wish For Our Heroes Foundation were an amazing success this year. Jeff Wells, Founder and President of the Foundation, Charlie Lemon and Corey & Brandy Kent (both wounded Veterans) and over 150 local Veterans were in attendance at the various events as our honored guests.

This year we set a new record by raising over $34,300 bringing our total for the last 7 years to over $140,000 raised during these events.   100% of our funds raised have gone to help military families in need. We also had a record attendance with 275 people at  the Cass Cay Restaurant & Bar Event and 144 Golfers took part in the Golf Tournament at Burnt Store Golf and Activity Club.

Thank you to everyone who donated something for the auction, raffles, sponsored a hole for the golf tournament, attended the veterans breakfast, volunteered at the Cass Cay & Golf Course events, VOLUNTEERED to work behind the scenes in preparation for & during all of the events, bought tickets to Cass Cay, took part in the Golf Tournament, bought 200 club or 50/50 raffle tickets or just donated Cash to help us reach our goal. None of this would have been possible without your support.

A special thanks to Bill, Roz & Cassandra Kelley & Chef Dave for giving us the entire Cass Cay Restaurant and Bar for the Saturday evening events. Thanks to your entire staff who did a wonderful job.  What a great meal and perfect evening. Thanks to Single Shot Steve (Steve Flagg) & Capt’n Rick (Rick Stewart) for donating your time to entertain us all evening.

A special thanks to Diane Mattas, Chef Kathy and the entire staff & volunteers at Burnt Store Golf & Activity Club & Linkside Café for a great Veterans Breakfast & use of the entire golf course for the Veterans Golf Tournament & Italian Buffet.   Everything was great.  Thanks to our two Pro’s Bill Connelly & Greg Lawhorn for hitting drives for cash to help our cause.

Last but not least, thanks to the 2016 committee – Barb & Jeff Poet, Steve Mcomber, Dick & Joyce Brown, Cheryl Fogg, Jerry Jerome, Leon Luberacki, Jimmy Merz, Bev David &  Larry Hale.  You took on the challenge and came through with flying colors.
