Tuesday, November 5th, we begin a remarkable journey. A journey with 24 riders (cyclists) across the state of Texas all for one purpose. To raise money for Texas heroes in need. Check out wounded warrior Charlie Lemon who has sacrificed so much for his country already. As if riding 500 miles isn't difficult enough, Charlie is riding 500 miles with his ARMS!! He's doing this to pay it forward and help other warriors. Follow Charlie this week as we set off on our 500 mile journey. November 4th, we drive to Wichita Falls to prepare for our 105 mile first leg of our journey, starting on the morning of November 5th. RIDE TEXAS ROUTE : DAY 1 (Tuesday, November 5th)
Wichita Falls to Fort Worth 100 miles (approx 8 hours)
- Ride will begin at Whataburger 2725 Southwest Parkway (across the street from Hotel) at 7:30am
- Right onto Southwest Parkway (from Whataburger)
- Mile 1.91 Right on Professional Dr
- Mile 4.11 Left on East Jentsch Rd
- Mile 5.02 Right on 281 (no shoulder for the first mile or 2, then wide shoulder and smooth)
- Mile 23 Right on Church St (Windthorst) – Left on St. Mary’s: Windthorst ISD 100 Saint Mary’s St Windthorst Texas 76389 contact: Lester Anderle 940-631-5277
- Follow St Mary’s St to 281 head south
- Around mile 27 road will change to rough texture. Mile 31 will be first climb of day followed by larger climb on mile 37.5 and mile 42. Shoulder changes widths from thin to none back to car width.
- Meet and Greet point will be at Jacksboro Elementary School on right (51 – 53 miles into ride), turn right into parking lot stay straight follow drive around the backside of school
- Exit out of parking lot left on N 6th street back to 281 turn right (south)
- Meet and Greet at Jacksboro High School, left into parking lot 1400 N Main Street 76458 follow drive to the right
- Left out of parking lot back onto 281 head south
- Meet and Greet at Jacksboro National Bank: 910 North Main St Jacksboro, TX phone number (940)567-5551, bank is on left
- Head south on 281
- Mile 63.79 Stay left following Highway 199, follow 199 all the way into Azle to stopping point below
- Ride will stop at Whataburger, 440 Northwest Parkway Azle, TX 76020 total ride distance 102 miles
