Sometimes things happen just by being at the right place at the right time. We all work so hard at W4OH to come up with new ways to raise funds for the troops, and it can be trying at times, when your efforts don’t always end in reward. So, when we received a phone call from McDonald’s of Central Texas indicating they wanted to donate to W4OH for Veteran’s Day, we honestly thought it may be a prank call! Most of our donations are typically from individuals, not corporations, and this was, well, MCDONALD’S! John Morin, who owns 10 McDonald’s in Waco and the surrounding areas, heard about WISH for OUR HEROES on the radio. He and 5 of his franchise owners got together and decided to donate funds from proceeds raised on Veterans Day 2012. The participating McDonalds were located in Lampassas, Killeen, Harker Heights, Temple, Waco, and the Austin area. The total amount raised and donated was $15,000., which will be used to help deserving military families in the Central Texas area. See the story here
For a large corporation to understand what we’re trying to do, and to take it upon themselves to donate to our cause, is extraordinary. John Morin and McDonald’s…we simply can’t thank you enough. On behalf of W4OH and all the troops this will assist, we’re LOVIN’ IT!
