A local country duo is on their way to making it big after becoming finalists in a national competition. Austin Baze consists of Brian Buckner and Nick Gunter. The two are from Madison County, and have been performing together since they were kids in church, and were greatly influenced by Appalachian music. Out of more than 4,000 entries, Austin Baze made it to the top 12 in the nation on American Country Star. The competition is being held at the Silver Dollar Saloon in downtown Nashville on Oct. 22nd and 23rd. Austin Baze is also a big supporter of Wish For Our Heroes. The non-profit helps men and women who served in the military deal with everyday needs. Austin Baze wrote a song called “Fighting” for the organization. The group is currently seeking sponsors to do an event for Wish for Our Heroes in December in conjunction with the Indiana Pacers.
