Mike Dean, renowned author, long-time W4OH volunteer, Veteran of multiple branches, and someone who has dedicated his life to our country, goes above and beyond to assist this wonderful family. These are Mike’s words:
‘My daughter gave me a box of WW II medals for Fathers’ day this past year that she had purchased at an auction, because she knows how much I love military history. After some research, I found out that the medals were from LT Edward Kuntz, a WWII veteran who was a Dean at Indiana University. I called John Summerlot, Director of Veterans Support Services at Indiana University. He (along with Veteran students) researched and found transcripts of and interview with Dean Kuntz about IU in the early 40’s and some of his experiences in the war. During the research they found out that Edward Kuntz’s daughter now lives in Ohio. Her mother lived in Bloomington until she passed away two years ago. Her father passed away in 1999, so somewhere along the way his medals had been separated from the family. His daughter’s wish has been to somehow locate her father’s medals.’
On September 16, 2016, Mike drove from Indianapolis to Cincinnati, OH, to grant this wish and return LT Kuntz’s medals to their rightful place. Thank you Mike, for all that you do sir.
