Robert is an active military member based in Jacksonville, Florida, who needed our support after his third baby was admitted to the NICU at UF Health (Shands).
Robert’s wife experienced a laborious birth on August 12, 2016 when test revealed their daughter had E. coli in her body. As a result, she was admitted to the NICU. After careful evaluation, it was determined that their baby would have to stay in the NICU for up to 15 days.
During this difficult time, Robert and his family needed additional help from Robert’s mother-in-law, who lived out of town, to help take care of the their two older children while Robert and his wife tended to their newborn daughter.
Robert’s family reached out to Wish for Our Heroes for assistance in securing an Amtrak ticket so Robert’s mother-in-law could travel to Florida and help care for his sons while his wife stayed at UF Health (Shands) with their daughter.
We were able to grant the family a total of $756 to cover the cost of an Amtrak ticket for Robert’s mother-in-law and $250 to Walmart to help cover grocery and gas expenses.
Robert has been in the United States Navy for 10 years and has served on several Carrier Deployments.
Help us help more active military members and their families by making a charitable donation to Wish for Our Heroes in North Florida. Every dollar helps.
