SSG Juan Marmolejo has been serving in the USMC since November 2003 and is currently on Recruiting duty in Corpus Christi, Texas. He is a Central Texas native and his families home that was affected by the recent floods. The attached pictures are from the residence in San Marcos, TX. With water topping out at nearly 20 inches, it is easy to see how nearly everything, every possession, has been damaged and/or ruined.

TYPE OF DAMAGE:
Floors: Linoleum tile thru out the residence was damaged and will require replacement. In some of the rooms the tiles were washed away.
Walls: The entire residence was inundated by approximately 18″ of water (ref. picture with coat hanger). In order to avoid mold build up all sheetrock, wood paneling, and insulation affected by the flooding will have to be replaced. Drywall work will be required.
Electric: All electrical wall sockets were inundated, electrical circuit box was reset. Electrical connectivity is nonexistent in both dining and living room, Limited electricity was re-established in parts of the residency.
Windows: Two windows were destroyed during the flooding.
Furniture: Virtually all furniture was destroyed or requires replacement due to water damage. At the current time there are no adequate sleeping quarters.
Appliances: All major appliances are water damaged and inoperable. Range (gas) is completely inoperable from the oven on down, Refrigerator does not keep cool nor is able to freeze, washer and dryer (Electric) do not operate as designed, water heater (gas) has also been damaged and is unable to provide hot water.
Clothing: 80% of the families’ clothing is a conservative estimate of what has been destroyed and will require replacement.

Mattresses and bedding linen: In order to provide a place to sleep.

Father: age 57, size of pants 33w 29L, Shirts Medium, shoe 8 1/2, under wear medium
Brother in law: age 36, size of pants 46w 30L, Shirts 3XL, shoe 13, under wear 3XL
Nephew: age 9, size of pants 14 children’s, Shirts 14 children’s, shoe 3, under wear 14 children’s
Sister: age 34, waist 11, shirt large, shoe 7 1/2, undergarments 7
Niece: age 16, waist 11, shirt large, shoe 9, undergarments 7
Niece: age 12, waist 8, shirt large, shoe 9, undergarments 7
Appliances:
Refrigerator: In order to provide a means of keeping food and beverages fresh
Gas Range: In order to provide a means to prepare food
Washer & Electric Dryer: In order to keep clothing clean
