Serving in the military can bring financial difficulties. However, a planned or unplanned pregnancy can add to these hardships. This is when Wish For Our Heroes steps in to help.
Tymesha has been active duty in the military for one year and began work at the NAS JAX-Branch Medical Hospital as an E2 in September.
She found out unexpectedly that she was pregnant and due to have a baby girl in January. With no local support system and other financial commitments including rent and a car payment, she needed assistance in covering expenses for the baby.
To assist with the purchase of baby supplies such as a crib, stroller, diapers, car seat, and clothes, Wish for Our Heroes presented Tymesha with a $600 gift card to Wal-Mart.
Teresa is an E-5 based in Jacksonville. She is a single mother of two young children aged 11 and 9 and is expecting her third child.
Unfortunately, Teresa and her children needed to evacuate Jacksonville when hurricane Irma hit the First Coast in September, and the savings she had set aside to prepare for the arrival of her third child were depleted. She is working to attend a Financial Specialist class provided by Fleet and Family, but in the meantime needed assistance securing items for the new baby.
Wish for our Heroes supplied Teresa with a new crib, crib mattress, and stroller with a car seat totaling $506.37.
Lana is currently based out of Jacksonville and has served in the Navy for two years as an E3.
She is due to have a son in January, but because she is a single mother on a limited income she needed assistance in purchasing baby items such as a crib, clothing, food, and diapers.
Wish for our Heroes provided Lana with a $550 gift card to Wal-Mart to go towards the purchase of baby supplies.
