Sgt Cummings mother passed away on April 17, 2015 after a 20 year battle with cancer. He was fortunate enough to visit her the week prior to her passing to say his goodbyes while she was still coherent. When Jason and his family (wife and two small children) returned home to Kaleen, Texas, it was only a week later when he received the call that his mother had passed on.
The first trip to see his mother was a financial strain but to go back a week later created a critical issue on their finances. After purchasing four plane tickets and managing other expenses concerning his mothers passing, Sgt. Cummings would nearly overdraw his bank account leaving he and his family with very little money for gas and groceries until the next pay period.
Sgt Cummings reached out to W4OH’s on Friday, May 1, 2015 via a wish request on our website. Within 24 hours we were able to help to Sg. Cummings and his family to help in their time of need.
A note from Sgt. Cummings:
“I just wanted to follow up and let you know that I did receive the three emails with the walmart gift card information. I don’t know how I will ever be able to repay you guys for helping my family in a time of trial, but I’d like to start out by maybe donating a little every month once I can get everything back on track. How would I go about doing this?
Thank you all again for helping people like myself who find themselves in difficult situations. You have really gone above and beyond in such a short time frame to help myself and my family and for that we are forever grateful.”
