Their oldest child is on the Autism spectrum in addition to his other medical conditions. He uses a G-tube that has to have his feed run for 8 hours every night. As a result, Shannen is up during the night to ensure that it is running smoothly. She is also up all day to provide care for the children. Between COVID-19 and summer break, both boys are with her all day, every day of the week, and this makes things like getting groceries or even enough rest, very challenging.
Wish for Our Heroes understands that now more than ever, things are difficult for military families. To help Shannen have time for errands and to attend to household needs while her husband is away, we were able to grant this family $2,400 to help cover additional EFMP Respite Care Program hours.
